The Firm owes its roots to the single-practioner’s law office of its Founding Partner, the late Jose D. Palma, which he established in 1957 in a single-room office in downtown Cebu City. Throughout the years, this humble law office saw a number of its former associates become prominent members of the Judiciary, and the ranks of the Prosecution Office and other government agencies.

The Firm itself was born in 1988, when Atty. Palma Sr., formed the law partnership known as J.D. Palma & Associates. In 1991, Partner Jose C. Palma, Jr., returned to Cebu City from practicing law in Metro Manila, and joined his father to form the partnership of Palma Palma & Associates.

After the demise of Atty. Palma, Sr., in 2001, Atty. Palma, Jr., reformed the Partnership with Partner Joselito M. Ybanez and Atty. Eduardo M. Pangan, who left the Firm in 2004 to resume his practice of law in Metro Manila. In September 2004, Ma. Amifaith Fider-Reyes, joined the Firm, followed by Partner Ramon R. Teleron in November 2005. Atty. Fider-Reyes left the Firm in January 2006 in view of her appointment as the Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 42, based in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Today, the remaining Partners are continuing the tradition of excellence and quality legal service which started in a simple one-room office in 1957. In addition to personally performing legal work for the Firm’s clients, the Partners also supervise and monitor the work of the Associates in the Firm in its several fields of expertise. The Firm also maintains a network of cooperation with prestigious and well-known law firms in Metro Manila, as well as in the Visayas and Mindanao areas.
